Dr Lui Che-woo, the founder of the "LUI Che Woo Prize - Prize for World Civilisation", visited the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, for the first time. Dr Lui described his visit as "an indescribably stirring experience", and said that the most impressive part of the trip was the viewing of the Thousand-Handed Guanyin painting in the Mogao Caves, where he was attracted to the fine detail of the paintings, which were "so well-detailed in the painting of each hair”. He praised the splendour of Chinese culture, which has lasted for more than a thousand years.
