K. Wah Group 55th Anniversary Photo Exhibition Garners Gold at the International Awards Competition

02 Jun 2011

(Hong Kong, 2 June 2011) The K. Wah Group (“K. Wah”) 55th Anniversary Photo Exhibition has earned the Gold Award at the 21st ASTRID Awards in New York, taking top honors for outstanding achievements in design communication. The exhibition was praised by the juding panel unanimously for its creativity and overall presentation. The tactful use of precious photos and wordings has shaped K. Wah’s unique image in an intuitive manner, which made the exhibition highly impressive.

The 100-feet-long exhibition was displayed at the Grand Foyer of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in December last year and was one of the highlights of K. Wah’s 55th anniversary celebration. Categorized into five periods since its establishment in 1955, each section chronologically detailed the growth of K. Wah with clear themes. Comprising more than 100 historical photos with concise wording, the exhibition showcased how K. Wah progressively transformed from a construction materials supplier into a multinational conglomerate encompassing properties, entertainment and leisure, and hospitality.

The K. Wah Group 55th Anniversary Photo Exhibition highlights important moments of each era in a three-dimensional manner, thus adding colour in the overall ambience. The exhibition had already been hailed by local media as an iteration of the famous Chinese panoramic painting Along the River during Qingming Festival when it was first shown.

Launched in 1990 by New York-based MerComm, Inc., the ASTRID Awards has become an annual global event. In celebrating its 21 years of success, the awards program received hundreds of entries from around the world. All of the submissions were judged by international panels of design professionals on the basis of concept, creativity, message clarity and production.
