Dr Lui Che-woo, Chairman of K. Wah Group, delivers a speech at the 2015 diamond jubilee grand celebration

Dr Lui Che-woo, Chairman of K. Wah Group, said in his speech, “For 60 years, K. Wah has adhered to the principles it adopted at its inception: staying focused on its core businesses with a view towards long-term development and helping to build for the benefit of society and the public. K. Wah is constantly committed to innovation, always looking to lead the trend and drive progress in the industry and society at large, in the hope of fostering value and benefits for everyone to share. At this juncture of our 60th anniversary, I can’t help but feeling both sentimental and proud at the same time: proud of the vision and courage to embark undaunted on new ventures, proud of our growth in tandem with Hong Kong and the motherland, proud of our ability to reform ourselves and advance at every important milestone of our times, and proud of the achievements across industries, countries and decades accomplished by generations of K. Wah staff over these 60 years. At the same time, we are also proud of the recognition and trust that K. Wah has earned from the nation, society and every one of you here during the past 60 years. For all of this, I would like to thank our friends here and 30,000-plus members of the K. Wah workforce for their steadfast support of the K. Wah philosophy and their persistent dedication to put this philosophy into practice. Their excellent efforts have expanded the footprint of K. Wah all around the world, spreading the values of K. Wah far and wide.”

Francis Lui, Deputy Chairman of the Group, said, “In the past 60 years, K. Wah has experienced a lot of ups and downs together with Hong Kong. When Hong Kong was sluggish after the war, forseeing the society’s needs to build a lot of houses, Dr Lui Che-Woo took the opportunity and converted the business of K. Wah from the import/export of heavy machinery into construction materials, laying solid foundations for the company to excel in the construction material industry. Today, K. Wah has become a multinational conglomerate with businesses in construction materials, property market, hotel development, and the entertainment and leisure industries. In the future, we will continue to uphold his philosophy of ‘Building the Future with Passion’, not only will we strive for business growth, but also be responsible for the prosperity and future development of the society, and contribute to the sustainable development of our country and our home.”

Six Decades of Dedicated Efforts Bring K. Wah from Hong Kong to the Global Arena. In the past 60 years, K. Wah has grown from a small company in machinery trading into quarry mining, property development, hotel and entertainment & leisure. Growing international, K. Wah is now working with world famous hospitality brands and expanding its business to Mainland China, Southeast Asia and major cities in the world. K. Wah has been at the forefront of the modernization of the quarrying and construction materials industry in Hong Kong and the Mainland, the internationalization of local Hong Kong hotels, the nurturing of hotel and tourism management talents in Hong Kong and Mainland.  Dr Lui has also applied his management philosophy that blends facets of Chinese and Western practices with a fine balance of humanism, rationality and rules in the establishment and operation of Galaxy Entertainment Group, which contributes to the transformation of Macau into a world centre of tourism and leisure.
