(Macau SAR, August 10, 2023) – Galaxy Macau™, in collaboration with Hyatt, today unveiled details of its all-new Andaz hotel, including the opening date, which is scheduled to launch on September 15, with an exclusive opening offer. Featuring more than 700 uniquely appointed rooms and suites, Andaz Macau will be the brand’s largest hotel globally, as well as its first and only hotel in Macau. It will also be the eighth hospitality brand to establish a presence within Galaxy Macau.

Presenting Old Taipa in a contemporary context, the hotel’s aesthetic pays homage to the village’s classic architectural style, and draws inspiration from the city’s UNESCO-recognized East-meets-West architecture, the distinctive forms of its old maritime harbor ships, the rich traditions of local Chinese culture, and the dynamic international lifestyle of modern Macau. Its imaginative interiors and carefully curated art pieces, meanwhile, inspire visitors to discover the real Macau through its contemporary and vibrant interpretation of the city’s remarkable heritage.

Imagined as the richly decorated residence of a knowledgeable antique dealer with a deep understanding of Macau’s multifaceted cultural heritage, Andaz Macau features elements of old Macau presented in a new way, the interiors give visitors the opportunity to learn about the city’s history and culture as they explore different spaces and encounter various art pieces throughout the hotel.

This diverse collection of artworks includes “Juxtapose”, a stunning series of steel sculptures by Malaysian artist Tang Mun Kian that pays tribute to the city’s historic architecture, iconic landmarks, and the insights of local residents, while other artifacts on display include the intricately embroidered couture gowns “Golden Phoenix” and “Enchanted Mountains”, unique antique vases “Glass Horizon 1930” and “Glazed Mountains 1840”, elegant glass sculptures “Shades of Water” and “Sails of Glass”, and the vibrant paintings “Energetic Motion” and “World Connected”.

Most impressive of all, however, is “Macau Steps”, a one-of-a-kind staircase that reveals stories of the city’s past and present through more than 100 captivating videos that create an engaging multisensory experience. Beginning with the city’s busy streets at the bottom and winding its way up to the peace and tranquility of nature at the top, this signature feature takes guests on a beguiling journey of discovery that reveals the real Macau one step at a time.

A Dynamic Dining Destination

Guests keen to experience the authentic flavors of Macau, as well as classic dishes from around the world, will be well catered for at Andaz Macau’s dynamic culinary venues. Andaz Kitchen is an all-day dining neighborhood destination featuring live-action cooking where guests can enjoy Chinese, Portuguese and Western cuisines in a space inspired by Macau’s iconic shophouses. Connected to the main restaurant by a discreet entrance and accommodating up to 80 guests, the multi-function Andaz Studio offers endless possibilities.
