Dr. Lui Che-woo scooped “Diamond Award 2011”

13 Apr 2011

(Hong Kong, 13 April 2011) – K. Wah Group (the “Group”) is pleased to announce today that Chairman Dr. Lui Che-woo has been honoured with the “Diamond Award 2011” by Macau Tatler, a renowned luxury high society magazine in Asia, for his outstanding achievement in Macau.

Since the successful bid for the Macau Gaming Concession in 2002, Dr. Lui has been striving to promote Macau as the “Global Center of Tourism and Recreation” and to boost the sustainable growth of local economy through Galaxy Entertainment Group Limited (“GEG”), adhering to the spirit of “Asian Heart.” StarWorld Hotel & Casino, which opened in 2006, is the first flagship brand of GEG in Macau and has now become one of its landmark projects in the region.

The Galaxy Macau™, scheduled to be opened on 15 May 2011 (Sunday), is Macau’s first Asian-themed integrated resort and one of the largest leisure complexes in Asia. Conceived with the idea of “World Class, Asian Heart”, Galaxy Macau™ is designed to provide an extraordinary holiday experience while further promoting the diversification of Macau’s economy with its classic Asian hospitality services and excellent leisure and entertainment facilities through collaboration with three internationally renowned hospitality establishments ― Banyan Tree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau and Galaxy Hotel.

Dr. Lui, speaking at the ceremony, said, “I would like to thank Macau Tatler for presenting the Diamond Award to me. This prestigious award transcends my personal recognition to an acknowledgement of the continued efforts of GEG in contributing to Macau over the years. It also marks a major milestone for the development of GEG. As China’s economy continues to boom, the tourism industry in Macau has been a major beneficiary and continues to exhibit huge growth potential. In light of the Macau Government’s economy-boosting policies, I am honoured not only to witness but also to participate in the development of Macau. Looking ahead, I will continue to move forward with the Macau Government, our community and our dedicated staff to work even harder for the betterment of Macau and the prosperity of our Motherland.”
