Letter from Chairman

Dear Colleagues,

The founding of LUI Che Woo History Museum is exceptionally meaningful to me. The Museum showcases milestones in the development of K. Wah Group from its incorporation in 1955 to this day through the display of records of its four core businesses– construction materials, properties, hospitality, and entertainment & leisure, and the LUI Che Woo Prize – Prize for World Civilisation, together with my own art collection acquired over the years and other invaluable objects gifted by other parties. For me, each exhibit is a unique and precious testimony to the success of K. Wah. The three exhibition halls of the Museum are named, “Unity”, “Harmony” and “Serenity”, respectively, as a tribute to the unity and commitment of the people of K. Wah, the quest for social harmony, and my personal philosophy of “simple living and lasting serenity” which I wish to share with all visitors as they appreciate the collection with a tranquil mind.

LUI Che Woo History Museum has been built according to rigorous standards for museums in terms of equipment and management. Everything from the fire safety system, lighting system, level of illumination, temperature and humidity to the glass used for the display cabinets and the security surveillance system has been set according to the specific requirements of museum displays, with a view to preserving the collections in their best conditions. Having spent more than two years in planning, preparation and decoration, we aim not only to organise and display the historic archives of the Group. More importantly, the Museum serves as a medium through which the Group’s corporate spirit, endurance and concerted efforts will be passed on to the younger generation as a form of spiritual wealth and knowledge.

K. Wah Group has come a long way over the past 60 years, overcoming challenges and consistently growing to become what it is today: a multinational conglomerate with a diversified business portfolio. The Group’s stellar achievements and formidable business scale have not come by easily. We owe it to the hard work and contributions of all K. Wah staff over the years. I earnestly hope that, through the LUI Che Woo History Museum and the “K. Wah Headlines” in this issue, you will come to appreciate the toil and dedication of the K. Wah people and their steadfast commitment to the corporate goal and social responsibility, as well as the support of our friends in all sectors. I also hope that the Museum will foster a greater sense of belonging and make our staff feel proud as I do to be part of the K. Wah family.
