(Shanghai, 23 September 2008) – On 23 September 2008 morning, Fudan University (“Fudan”) and K. Wah Group (“the Group”) launched the “Fudan K. Wah Day Gathering” at Guanghua Building, under the backdrop of building a bridge between business and learning. Dr Che-woo Lui, K. Wah Group Chairman and a member of Board of Trustees of Fudan University shared with senior management of the Group, and teachers and students of Fudan his experience and thoughts as well as prospects of future cooperation.

The event was kicked off by a cheque presentation ceremony which commemorated Dr Che-woo Lui’s donation of HK$30 million for the renovation and expansion of Zibin Building（子彬院）, a historical building at Fudan, with a view to aiding tertiary education development in Mainland China by enhancing campus facilities. The ceremony was hosted by Zhang Yihua, Executive Vice President of Fudan University. Representatives from the Group and over 400 guests from Fudan witnessed the presentation of cheque and certificate between Dr Che-woo Lui and Wang Shenghong, President of Fudan University.

Another highlight of the event was a talk from Dr Che-woo Lui, which was hosted by Professor Lu Xiongwen, Dean, School of Management of Fudan University and Professor Andrew Chan of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr Che-woo Lui shared his insights on various aspects including cross-regional development, glocalization, leadership, talent nurturing, competitiveness, corporate sustainability and his philosophy of life. By presenting an overview of China’s hardship in the past few decades, he encouraged students to face socio-economic challenges ahead and contribute their utmost for betterment of the country. Some more of his thoughts were elaborated during the Q&A session and 100 autograph copies of his publication, Lasting Serenity, were given to the participants.

Fudan and the Group had established long-term close links and Fudan K.Wah Day has therefore marked a new page in their cooperation on talent development. In line with the Group’s objective, Fudan would continue to be the nurturing ground for talents in meeting the needs of international corporations. In the mean time, the Group would provide placement opportunities for students with its multinational business platform and extensive experience in management.
